Using Curtis Carter's (2012) Instructional Audio Guidelines: Four Design Principles to Consider for Every Instructional Audio Design Effort, I was able to develop this audio project. I was able to create the narrative format for this soundtrack. The fleeting nature of spoken words provided the ability to write the script and environmental soundscapes was implemented to enhance this script. By understanding Carter's last principle, the difference between hearing and active listening enabled the script to be adjusted to improve the learner's attention and engagement using their auditory learning. This project used these principles to develop the learning objective to provide information on the impact Grimm Fairy Tales had in the development of many of Walt Disney's stories.
A mind map was used to design this project. The different maps allowed me to produce the audio files with better direction and combine the areas of sound into "Grimm to Disney." Creating an audio file to tell a story can effectively use other modalities, such as video or lecture, to engage the learner.
The project was developed using Westar Music, Adobe Audition, SnagIt, and XMind to create the mind map.
